I was recently asked to make some men's suit accessories - wire wrapped. When I googled what was out there I found very little and not one hit for wire wrapped tie tacks. So that's what I decided to make. It seemed like a bit of a challenge and working so very small would be fun - I used to love making miniatures and models. It turns out working with jewelry wire on a 12mm palette is indeed a challenge! But once I had my designs figured out, I didn't want to put my projects away.

At this point I've listed a half a dozen pieces and made many more. I make all my tie tacks with the care and attention I give to my large statement pieces, yet they are only about 12 - 20mm. Each tie pin is made individually from solid copper, bronze, stainless steel and/or silver jewelry wire and has a high quality brass base. The tacks incorporate a variety of wire jewelry techniques such as wire weaving, cold forging and wire wrapping. I also use gemstones or resin, depending on the piece. Some tie tacks are oxidized to give them a dark, industrial patina, which is then hand buffed and polished until I get the effect I want. All pieces are sealed with a professional protective coating.

I had so much fun and such a good response when I posted my wire wrapped tie tacks that I've started designs for tie bars, tie clips and  cuff links.

My wire wrapped accessories for men are intended to be the final touch to a great suit and a unique look.
